As the term implies, juicing refers to processing cannabis into a juice that is consumed for therapeutic purposes. The method gained popularity after extensive promotion by Dr William Courtney, a California based physician. His contention is that juicing may be a quick and efficient way to get the most out of medical cannabis.

Various parts of the cannabis plant can be juiced, including the leaves, stems and flowering tops. Generally raw plant materials, such as fresh leaves and stems, are used because it has the highest concentrations of the active cannabinoids.

Juicing can prove to be a good alternative for patients who do not like smoking. Furthermore, because mostly leaves and stems are used the juice tends to contain lower levels of the psychoactive cannabinoid, Tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC. This is because the highest concentrations of THC are found in the flowering tops while the rest of the plant contains relatively low levels of it.

The leaves contain a number of non-psychoactive cannabinoids such as cannabidiol (CBD) and cannabigerol (CBG). CBD is known for its anti-psychotic, anti-epileptic and anti-inflammatory properties which relieve a number of different conditions.
